Back in the homeland of Alexander, Macedonia there weren't any written laws just ancient customs that the king applied them to whatever interpretation he wanted them to be, and because Alexander grew up in that environment, he took this style enforced it into his ruling, in all the places he conquered, he would take the rules of that place and made them his own, this rules were very successful as they accommodated to the lifestyle of the people and it wasn't that much different from what the used to have before Alexander came to power. They were some rules he did made up in his head, for example anyone who betrayed him or plotted against him had to be executed, he went up to killing military leaders, close mentors and even friends because of this.
